Watch the town of Mariposa come alive through the strokes of plein air painters during the first annual Mariposa Paint Out. For one inspiring weekend, artists from across the region will gather to interpret the town’s golden hills, charming streets, and vibrant atmosphere—all under the open sky.

Set in California’s historic Gold Country, this open-air art festival welcomes everyone—from seasoned collectors to weekend wanderers—to explore Mariposa through a creative lens.
Brushes in Motion: A Town Transformed
Throughout the event, you’ll see artists scattered throughout town and the surrounding countryside, bringing Mariposa’s beauty to life in real time. From peaceful creeks to vintage storefronts, each canvas tells a unique story. Walk among the easels, talk with the artists, and witness the painting process up close.

Four engaging workshops will also be hosted throughout the weekend, led by our acclaimed artist-judges: Christine Obers, Penny Otwell, Danjie Wei, and Veronica Gross. Open to all skill levels and ages, these sessions offer hands-on inspiration—whether you're competing or just joining for fun.
